This annual invitation-only conference assembles the world’s leading scholars to examine critical trends in the study of China's military. On September 28-30, 2007, The National Bureau of Asian Research and the Strategic Studies Institute of the Army War College will co-host the 18th annual People's Liberation Army (PLA) Conference at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania entitled The "People" in the PLA: Recruitment, Training and Education in China's 80-year old Military. The conference will examine the trends and developments associated with human capital, including recruitment, training, and personnel management as well as historical trends and changes in PLA education and training.
